I wonder what it was he was so deeply terrified of. He did definitely empower women, but it seemed to me that there was always a subtle element of monstrosity in the femininity… a scary otherworldly-ness. It was fantastic because that element was so honest, and so relevant to women. But how did Alexander McQueen actually feel about it? I guess we will never quite know…
